Carmen Sandiego

If you grew up in the 90's and had at least one pc in your classroom, you probably fairly familiar with the double dealing diva, Carmen Sandiego. A few years back Netflix did a reboot of this long dormant franchise, which utilized the vocal talents of one Ms. Gina Rodriguez as the titular character. And with this reboot changed a few aspects of previous incarnations, for starters Carmen is now anti hero who is at odds with both the (oh so subtly named) criminal organization of V.I.L.E. and the Acme Detective Agency. Instead of stealing precious artifacts for her own amusement, she steals from V.I.L.E. while simultaneously uncovering their schemes leading Acme to arrest them.

The gameplay is a mash up of the classic PC game's clue collecting, globetrotting, geography teaching aspects, with limited platforming and lots of quicktime events!

As you can see the game is been updated with some more challenging puzzles, and mini games. It's a nice nod to older fans like myself but doesn't forget its roots as an educational game as carmen searches for key items to find the various culprits of V.I.L.E.'s different capers across the globe.

The graphic's are GameLoft's Single A quality, so don't expect raytracing on this title.

Same goes for the music, it sounds like picked from a blind box of license-free music; so that's something.

Hard to believe that this series is 40 years old (*sobs*) and I have to say while this game isn't perfect, it's worthy of being attached to this IP's legacy.

I give Carmen Sandiego a 3 out of 5.

Sorry to bother you - I love your art sm! 💕 I had a quick question as a new-ish player. Does Book 7 immediately follow Book 6 the way Book 6 does for Book 5, or is there some space between them?

thank you! 💚💜💚 there is indeed a bit of a timeskip between 6 and 7 -- I don't remember if they say exactly how long, but it's a few days at least? (the end of 6 has its own little timeskip that I think is supposed to be at least a few weeks later, and then the beginning of 7 is sorta vaguely sometime after that.) but yeah, it's not a direct picking-up where the last scene left off type of thing like 5 to 6 was!

I know the decision to have Julian's parents have him augmented was made on the fly but imo its pretty obvious from early on that Julian has Family Issues because he avoids talking about his family like the plague and I think they should've incorporated this into the Julian and Sisko dynamic right from early on because I think it would've made for some really compelling stories and moments and could've set up a REALLY interesting Julian and Jake dynamic which they kinda started to do but never fully went for
